Mkulima Shop

Overview

KALRO Mkulima Shops aim to support farmers by providing access to certified seeds, seedlings and advisory services as a one stop shop. KALRO has opened eleven outlets that will see farmers access its products and services within their reach.

Over time, farmers have been facing challenges in accessing KALRO products and services at their various research centers. Previously, various seeds merchants stocked seeds only; limiting farmers from acquiring other planting materials like fruit seedlings, cuttings, vines among others. The issues of counterfeit seeds have also seen farmers incur huge losses brought by intolerance to drought, pests and diseases. These problems have huge consequences on farmer’s agricultural productivity and food security.

To counter these challenges, KALRO through its Director General has made strides to establish Mkulima Shops. These shops are projected to be established across every county to ease the access of KALRO products and services. Through the shops, KALRO continuously avails quality and certified planting materials as listed;
