Abstract
A study was conducted to classify seasonality in western Kenya using rainfall data from Kibos, Kakamega and Busia. On monthly basis, drought probabilities ranged between 0.15 at Kibos and 0.13 at Kakamega during the rainy months. March (0.83), October (0.8) and July (0.6) are prone to higher drought frequencies at Busia, Kibos and Kakamega relatively. Lower frequencies are expected in September (0.3), April (0.52) and May (0.68) for the three stations respectively. These frequencies are significant at 0.01 level. Deficiecies are most severe at Busia throughout the year, except in late November. Kibos has a progressively increasing deficiency in June, mid to end of July and mid to end of September.
