The component is supporting the generation and dissemination of improved agricultural technologies, innovations, and management practices (TIMPs), and building sustainable seed systems. It is implemented through three sub components
Supporting Climate Smart Agricultural Research and Innovations
This sub-component supports collaborative research programs to develop technologies, innovations and management practices for climate smart crops, livestock, aquaculture, land, water, agro-frestry, sustainable bio-energy and socio-economic research.
Building Competitive and Sustainable Seed Systems
The sub-component supports crop, livestock and aquaculture breeding programs and promotes private sector and community involvement in producing and distributing commercial seed.
Strengthening Technical and institutional Capacity
The sub-component is supporting the strengthening of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS) technical and institutional capacity to deliver Climate Smart Agriculture TIMPs. It also supporting the development of sustainable seed, breeding stock and fingerling delivery systems.
