Abstract:
An experiment was conducted to study the effect of different weed control methods at different stages and to estimate losses of maize yields due to weeds under coast environment. Plot size was 5.4 x 5.4 m. The split plot design and seven weeding methods were used. The treatments consisted of five weed control methodshand weeding, Gramoxone and Atrazine at fourth and tenth leaf stage. The five weed control methods were found to be significantly different (P.01) and P.05) but interactions were not (P.05) for both short and long rains. The yield loss was 40 and 20 percent for the long and short rainy seasons respectively.
