The role of the section is to undertake research on socio-economic issues that impact on the performance of the coffee industry. Moreover, to propose measures that enhances sustainability at various levels in the industry. Research in the section cuts across the areas of coffee production, processing, marketing, and policy.
Building on previous years’ work, the specific objectives during the 2007/2008 research year are:
- To continuously inform and influence policy and investment decision processes in the coffee sector
- To inform the coffee production technology development, dissemination and uptake processes
