KALRO - Mwea has the mandate to formulate, coordinate and implement natural fibre research programme. The main natural fibres researched on include cotton, sisal, kenaf, jute and silk worm products. Recently the mandate was expanded to include rice and khat or miraa / Muguka research.  .
