White Sorghum an important food crop that contributes to food and nutrition security, income generation, and employment in Kenya. Sorghum is traditionally consumed with little processing, this project will promote sorghum production for industrial use as a means to advance food and nutrition security, income generation, and environmental conservation.
The project's whole value chain approach will include research on sustainable models for
-Increasing production and supply of beans suitable for pre-cooked processing
-Promoting white sorghum through innovative public and private partnerships
SLS is enhancing the competitiveness of small holder farmers for effective participation in white sorghum production and marketing integrated with other commodities markets in Kenya.
